CERTIFICATION PROCESS

How do we go about adventure certification? A step by step of our process:

Pre-engagement

Before we start the audit process with you we’ll need to share some information. To begin with we’ll need to compete an ‘Operator Profile’ which gives us some key information about your business and the services you are providing. Once we have this we can provide you with a time and cost estimate for your audit. If you’re happy with our estimate, we’ll sign a contract with you and the audit process will start.

Document Review

This step involves you completing one of our Document Review Checklists, then returning it to us along with a copy of your Safety Management System. The purpose of this step is to assess the conformance of your system against the requirements of the New Zealand Safety Audit Standard for Adventure Activities (2017) and relevant industry good practice.

Onsite Evaluation

Once we have completed your document review, we will arrange to come and visit your operation to ensure that the activities you wish to be certified for are being delivered safely.

Reporting & Certification

After the document review and onsite evaluation(s) have been completed, we will provide you with a comprehensive audit report, detailing our findings along with any final changes necessary to comply with the audit standard. Once these have been addressed you will be provided with AdventureMark® certification. This will be subject to our standard conditions of certification.

After Certification

Once you have been certified, we will stay in touch through your surveillance programme. Surveillance is a requirement of the certification scheme and will initially involve us visiting you to ensure that you are continuing to operate in accordance with the audit standard. Once ongoing conformance has been established, it is likely that further annual surveillance will be completed remotely. After 3 years your management system will be fully reassessed.
